Este tipo de modalidade caracteriza-se pelo radicalismo e pelas manobras de alto grau de dificuldade, executadas por poucos pilotos no mundo inteiro.

Os pilotos, além de serem obrigados a surfarem as ondas, realizando manobras semelhante às executadas por um surfista, durante a competição, a fim de conseguir boas notas, também fazem manobras de alto impacto visual.

Abaixo listamos as principais manobras e a sua explicação, fornecidas pelo campeão do Jet Waves 2003, James Visser.

• Launching – Pushing your ski through the shorebrake.
  Empurrar seu jet ski através da primeira onda (quebra-coco).
  
• Water start – Getting aboard your ski in the waves, as quickly as you can.
  Subir rapidamente no jet ski, na onda, tão rapidamente quanto possível.
  
• No hander – Jumping the wave and taking your hands off.
  Pular a onda tirando as mãos do guidão.
  
• No footer – Jumping the wave and taking your feet off.
  Pular a onda e tirar os pés do jet.
  
• Nose grab – Grabing the nose of the ski in the air.
  Vai com o corpo para a frente e agarra a ponta do jet com as mãos, enquanto o jet estiver no ar.
  
• 180º – Jumping the wave and landing facing the beach.
  Dar um 180º e voltar de frente para a praia.
  
• Can can – Taking both your feet off to one side while in the air.
  Tirar ambos os pés e jogar o corpo para um dos lados enquanto estiver no ar.
  
• Super man – Taking both feet off behind you while in the air.
  Tirar ambos os pés, deixando o corpo esticado no ar.
  
• Heel clicker – Wrapping your legs around the handle bars and touching your feet together.
  Passar as pernas por cima do guidão e tocar os pés um no outro.
  
• Nothing – Letting go both your hands and feet in the air.
  Tiras as mãos e os pés do guidão, totalmente solto.
  
• Cordova – Placing your feet under the handle bars and looking back at the beach.
  Jogar o corpo pra frente e a cabeça pra trás.
  
• Cliff hanger – Placing your feet under the handle bars and letting go with your hands.
  Colocar os pés embaixo do guidão e tirar as mãos do guidão.
  
• Mac metz – Pushing your feet through the handle bars and letting go with your hands.
  Com as duas mãos no guidão, levantar os pés e passar embaixo das mãos, soltando-as do guidão.
  
• Seat grab – Throwing your feet behind you and grabing the seat with one hand.
  Uma mão no guidão, uma mão no pé e o corpo esticado no ar.
  
• Side kick – Thowing your feet out to one side and grabing the seat with one hand.
  Uma mão no guidão, uma mão no banco, uma perna para o lado.
  
• Side winder – Placing both feet on one side of the ski and letting go with your hands.
  Colocar ambos os pés em um dos lados do jet ski, mexe as pernas e tira as mãos no guidão.
  
• Barrel roll – A complete side ways 360 spin.
  Uma volta completa, de lado, também conhecido como touneau.
  
• Back flip – A complete 360 invert.
  Uma volta completa para trás.
  
• Top turn – Wave riding, turning of the top of the wave like a cut-back.
  Como um cut back no surf, vai até o alto da onda, vira e volta.
  
• Re-entry – Wave riding, riding the wave, launching of the lip and landing back on the wave.
