The championship had sun, and waves varying from 1/2 to 1 meter, but the pilots put on a true show for the spectators assembled on the beach in Oceanside. The surf riding and aerial maneuvers were exemplary and often had the crowd braking out into applause and cheers.

In the Stand-up category North American Taylor Curtis was the victor with 135,4 points. After three rounds of competition just on point separated the winner and Italian Federico Bufacchi in second place. Again showing the quality of competition, just three hundredths of a point behind was the current World Tour leader, Frenchman Pierre Maixent with 134,1 points.

In the Sit-down class the victory belonged to veteran Jimmy Visser, of South Africa, once again not giving a chance to the other competitors. Also from South Africa, Jimmy’s son James Visser finished second, and France’s Pierre Maixent was again placed third.
